Learning Enterprises

Learning Enterprises is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to expanding global horizons through international service teaching. Learning Enterprises has been offering volunteers a once in a lifetime opportunity to teach English abroad since the organization was founded in 1992.

Learning Enterprises is guided by the 5 following principles:

  1. Fostering Creativity
  2. Expanding Horizons
  3. Promoting Understanding
  4. Spreading the Spirit of Volunteerism
  5. Providing Rewarding Work Experience

With programs across eleven countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, Learning Enterprises provides volunteers with a unique opportunity to teach English in under-resourced areas and immerse themselves in the culture of their host community.

Eligibility

Learning Enterprises requires that all applicants are at least 18 years old at the time of submitting their application, but there is no upper age limit for volunteers for any of their programs. Their programs are generally run by university students. As such, you should be prepared to function in a team of youth and take direction from the Program Directors.

Period of Study

You must be able to commit to the program and should anticipate spending the majority of your summer in country. Time varies from program to program.

Award

The answer to this question varies from program to program - the cost of living, as well as the cost of airfare, depends largely upon the country you choose.

As a volunteer your main costs will be flights, visa (if required), vaccinations and any other medication required prior to departure (if necessary), gifts for your host family and discretionary spending while in country. Your accommodation and food costs are usually covered by your host family.
