Fall 2020 Cohort
Are you planning to apply to graduate or doctoral programs and want to take the GRE? Join a free cohort of students and alumni who are studying for the GRE.
The Let’s GRE Together cohort is a program offered by Academic Commons to help students and alumni prepare for the Graduate Records Exam (GRE). Members of the GW community looking to complete the GRE are welcome to join the cohort. The Fall 2020 cohort will work towards a test date in late November or early December, but participants are welcome to join the group if they are planning on taking the exam on a different date.
The Let’s GRE Together study cohort will provide students with structure and guidance as they prepare to take the GRE. Each week, the cohort will work on assigned practice problems independently and will come together as a group to review the answers. Participants will also discuss effective study strategies and test-taking skills. Guest speakers, including Academic Commons math tutors, will attend select sessions to provide additional guidance with challenging material.
The cohort will begin the week of October 11 and conclude on November 21. Weekly meetings will be on Thursday from 5-7pm. Participants who cannot meet during the scheduled times are welcome to sign-up for the cohort if they want to follow along with the posted practice problems each week.
All meetings will be held virtually. Cohort materials will be organized in a Google Drive folder. Prior to the first week, the folder will be shared with all participants which will provide instructions for accessing the virtual meetings.
Members of the Let’s GRE Together cohort will work together on practice problems, discuss strategies for success, and hold each other accountable throughout the study timeline.
Participants can sign up using the Let’s GRE Together Registration Form. Participants will be admitted on a rolling basis and can join at any time. In order to participate, members will need a computer with internet access. Each week, practice problems from the 5 lb. Book of GRE Practice Problems will be assigned. Due to copyright restrictions, we will not be able to provide access to the recommended book throughout the program. Therefore, in order to get the most out of the cohort, participants are strongly encouraged to purchase the book ($19 on Amazon).
