Virtual Study Groups and Space

Are you looking for a study group for your course, but don't know anyone to ask?

Do you need a virtual study space to meet with your classmates?

Academic Commons is here to help!

Academic Commons can connect you with others interested in a study group for your course and provide a virtual study space using Microsoft Teams.  This is available to existing study groups who want one common space as well as those looking to form a study group and need some help getting started.

Study groups are a great place to discuss course concepts, review for upcoming exams, share notes or resources, complete group projects, and much more. The virtual study space will give you and your group members a"private" channel that is always open and only accessible to you and your group mates, much like Discord or Slack. You'll also have access to several "channels" with information about how the study space works, rules and procedures, a help section for questions, and more.

Please note: while the information you post to the group channel created for you will remain private, your name will be displayed in the "General" area as a member of the virtual study space. No other personal information aside from what you choose to post will be shared with the other members.

  2. After your form is submitted, a member of the Academic Commons team will reach out to you to help you get started. We will discuss communication options and will develop a plan for forming your group.
  3. If a study group for that course already exists, we will contact the current members to see if you can join their group.

Option 2: Join an Existing Study Group

If one of your classmates has already requested a private study group and you want to join, please select this option. You will need to provide the name of the study group (your classmate that created the group will have this information). Once the form has been submitted, we will add you to the correct study group.

  4. There are also open study rooms available to students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  5. You and your study group will be added to a private channel based on the information included in your request form. You can use this channel to work together in your classes.
